America’s “King”

The Bible is a book filled with wisdom – not only the wisdom of the laws of God but also the description of what happens to the people of God when they violate those laws.

Human nature has never changed; God does not change.  The punishment of God’s people for violating His laws reminds us that God is not only a God of love, mercy and forgiveness but also that He is a God of justice.

Violations of His law that are not forgiven – because the violators do not repent (stop doing what they were doing wrong and determine to not repeat the violation) – must be punished.  Otherwise, God is not a God of justice.

Since the passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973, the people of the United States have allowed the killing of almost 40 million unborn babies.

Since the 1960’s the people that honor family, religion and God have increasingly been denigrated, maligned, ridiculed and ostracized by the popular culture in this country.  Liberal organizations regularly file suit attempting to completely remove any visible sign or mention of God or the Christian religion from public view.

Homosexuality (clearly condemned by God in the Bible) is rampant throughout the nation with several states legalizing the marriage of homosexuals.

The punishment of the people of the United States is assured because we still have not repented of these evils we have either participated in or allowed to become commonplace and unremarked.  God is a God of justice.

The most common punishment visited upon God’s people in the Bible was enslavement by a foreign power.  Since the USA is the only “super power” in the world, that punishment is unlikely.  However, there is nothing that would prevent our people from enslaving themselves to the government and that process seems well underway.

The most frightening aspect is the description of God’s reaction when His people choose themselves a “king”:

10 Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, "This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle [b] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day." I Samuel 8:10-18 NIV

The people of the United States have chosen themselves a “king” – Barack Hussein Obama – and have granted him almost unlimited power as evidenced by his takeover of the financial sector, much of the automotive sector and his probable takeover of the healthcare sector.

With these three sectors comprising a large portion of the economy of the USA and having control over most of the rest through the financial and healthcare sectors control of business and personal behavior respectively, Mr. Obama already has power unprecedented in the history of our country.

Some of God’s people are crying out for relief from this “king”.

Will God answer?
